MINIMUM INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS.
DIAC impose the following minimum insurance requirements. This obligation was effective 14 September 2009; applying to all 457 visa applicants.
Additionally DIAC will require proof of insurance in the form of a letter from your insurer before they will issue your Visa.
The health insurance policy provided must meet certain minimum criteria which include :

* Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) is Government subsidised medicines being specific to Australia.
• A waiting period or excluded period of the first 12 months applies for pregnancy conditions as well as pre-existing conditions. A waiting period or excluded period of 2 months applies for psychiatric, rehabilitation and palliative care.
Excluded Is - IVF, elective cosmetic treatments, bone marrow and organ transplants and services where an Australian medicare item number applies.
